This large unique amaranth adds a Whoville feel flower gardens. It can easily grow up to 4 or 5 ft tall! For many, it might bring back memories of your grandparents’ garden. We love the dark burgundy tops and leaves. It adds a dramatic feel to the garden. Amaranth will often reseed themselves year after year. They are also very easy to save seeds from. In the fall once the heads turn brownish, you can shake them an the tiny black seeds will fall out. Watch out they tops are a little pokey and the deer love to munch on them.

Growing Tips

  • Sow seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost.

  • You can also sow seeds directly into the soil after the last frost

  • Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep.

  • Plant them in full sun.

  • Space plants 12–18 inches apart. They need some room, but if you want smaller plants, consider planting them close together.

  • Lightly cover seeds and keep moist.

  • Approximately 80 days to maturity.
